Hello and happy Thursday! I wanted to share something really awesome because I mentioned previously that I would be more involved in the mental health community. I got to be a part of BFRB Changemaker’s 100 Days of BFRB Awareness to share my journey with trichotillomania and how I would like to become a Changemaker. Click above to read up on it, because this post is a deeper dive on what I plan to do as a Changemaker.
As a Changemaker, I am going to stream on Twitch and dedicate a few minutes of each livestream to talking about mental health and BFRBs. My goal is to talk more about BFRBs, what they might look like to a person, as well as various mental illnesses and how I know they have affected me personally as well. In order to raise awareness about mental health as a whole, I want people to understand what it is like and why it can’t simply be cured with a walk in the park, healthy eating, and a bit of exercise.
Also, I will share resources that I know about and believe are great for learning about the disorders because understanding the function of the disorders you deal with is just as important as treatment and community.
I will link to resources pertaining to the topic written at the end of every blog post, so there will always be access to these resources.
The first makeup series I plan to do on Twitch is a makeup look based on the colors of different mental health organization logos that I support and bring awareness to the associated disorders they focus on and what the organization believes in. I will post the results on Instagram and tag the organization and leave a little blurb for those that don’t watch my streams. I think it’ll be a great way to be creative with my favorite medium of art and spread awareness.
I hope to find more ways to be involved in the mental health community and help make change. I think it’s so important to share experiences and bring people together so we can all understand each other better. If you have any questions about BFRBs, trichotillomania, etc., please comment below!
