There may be multiple posts of similar stature in the future because I’m learning things every session that may be helpful for others out there.
- Your feelings matter.
- Other people’s feelings when you express your own to them are not your responsibility.
- Your truth is truth, even if others don’t see it that way.
- Boundaries are important in all relationships, including significant others and family.
- Your self-worth is not defined by meeting (or not meeting) someone else’s expectations.
- In other words, be yourself and be unapologetic for it.
- It is not proper communication to yell at someone to get their attention and/or make them fix something.
- Do not fall for someone guilt-tripping you or being defensive toward you because you expressed yourself. This behavior shows that they do not respect you.
- Affirmations work wonders.
- Read self-help books that you resonate with. Take your time with them and take your time with yourself.
- Progress is progress; even a small step forward is just as valuable as the leaps and strides you take.
I hope this helps someone because it has helped me greatly.
